2007 Camp 1208 Events

Saturday, 13th January:  UDC Annual Southern Luncheon, Nathan B. Forrest 2054 Boyd Chapter.  Sportsmen’s Lodge, Oak Room, 12833 Ventura Blv., Studio City. 

$28 includes choice of 3 entrees. 

 

Saturday 24th February 11:30 a.m.:  UDC Sidney Lanier Chapter 2141 and SCV meeting at the Drum Barracks.  Lunch provided.  Tour the Drum and enjoy Living History presentations.  Wear period clothing if you have it.  Camps 2007 Long Beach and 1770 Orange County are invited. 

 

9, 10, 11 March:  Division Reunion in Bakersfield.  Hosted by A. S. Johnston Camp 2048 Tehachapi-Bakersfield.  See SCV California website for details. 

 

(Tentative) Saturday 21 April, 4 pm, Hollywood Forever Memorial Cemetery, Confederate Memorial Day, 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard, Hollywood.  Sponsored by UDC Chapter 2054 Nathan B. Forrest.  Bring a flower for each ancestor to answer the Roll Call of States.  Wear period clothing if you h ave it.  Color Guard and Honor Guard sponsored by SCV and 1st North Carolina Cavalry reenactors.  Directions:  Exit 101 Freeway at Vine, Gower, or Western.  The cemetery borders Santa Monica Boulevard and Gower Street.  From the South:  Travel North on the 101, exit on Santa Monica Blvd (due west); go past Western Ave; turn left into the cemetery. 

 

28 May:  National Memorial Day at Los Angeles National Cemetery, with 1st North Carolina Cavalry reenactor color guard.

 

(Tentative) Saturday 2 June Jefferson Davis UDC Luncheon.  Details forthcoming. 

 

25 to 28 July, National SCV Reunion in Mobile.  See SCV main web site at www.SCV.org, under for information. 

 

19 August, Sunday, Fort Tejon, meeting at noon.  Come join us and meet the public starting at 8 a.m.  We will be there until 4 p.m., along with other camps.  Bring the family and witness one of the best reenactments in Southern California.  Directions from Los Angeles:  Take Interstate 5 north into Kern county.  Pass the sign for Lebec; look for the Fort Tejon State Park sign.  It is about 2 hours from Whittier. 

 

Saturday and Sunday Labor Day Weekend, 1 and 2 September, Huntington Beach Central Park  Reenactment and recruiting with Camp 1770 Orange County. 

 

19 September, Wednesday 7 p.m.  Mike Wright’s home in Los Angeles.  Contact Adjutant for directions.  Speaker on Confederate military operations:  Professor Jim Stanbery. 

 

13 October, Saturday afternoon, 3 p.m.  Picnic at Pioneer Park in El Monte, the site of Confederate cavalry training in Fall of 1861.  Plenty of food provided for $4.  Bring your family.  Pioneer Park is 0.3 miles north of the 10 Freeway on Santa Anita Avenue.  The Santa Anita Avenue off ramp off the 10 Freeway is approximately 3 miles west of the 605.  3535 Santa Anita Avenue, El Monte, California 91731-2426. 

 

10 and 11 November:  Moorpark Reenactment and SCV Recruiting in Moorpark, California.  Recruit with Camp 2062 Ventura County and enjoy the reenactment!  From the South:  101 Fwy to Thousand Oaks, go north on 23 Fwy to Moorpark to Tierra Rejada exit, turn left (west). About 300 yards, left onto Moorpark Road and look on left for the site:  Tierra Rejada Ranch, 3370 Sunset Valley Road, Moorpark. 

 

Saturday 17 November 3 pm Picnic at home of Steve White in Downey.  Contact Adjutant for directions.  We will have a speaker on a Confederate military campaign.

 

Tentative:  December Christmas event with SCV Camps 1742 in Redlands.
